About Us

Club History

Living Water Martial Arts opened in Aug 2011 under Sensei Joanne, Sensei Monique and Sensei Jessica, teaching taekwondo. In January 2012 Sensei Dave joined us. A the March 15, 2012 black belt testing Joanne was introduced to Justin who was Monique's previous instructor. He introduced us to Karate for Christ International (KFCI) and gave us a recommendation. April 2012 Living Water Martial Arts joined the KFCI.

In the fall of 2012 the club looked at various options of ranking associations to join. At that time Monique announced she was planning on taking a break after the next testing. After much discussion and prayer the club joined the Koshinkai Bujutsu Kai Kokusai (KBKK) and began teaching Shorin Ryu karate. This was to give a layer of accountability, mentoring and further training for the black belts. In May 2013 Sensei Jessica graduated from high school and left us to go to college.

During the summer of 2014 a decision was made to leave the KBKK. This departure was on good terms. The decision was then made to return to teaching Shintani Wado Kai Karate, which is what Joanne & Dave have the most experience in.

In October 2014 we were invited by Kaichou Kevin Hughes to join the Koryū Bugei Hozon Kenkyūkai and we accepted.  Our curriculum is based on the Shintani Wado Kai but also includes the teachings of Sensei Kevin Hughes.

In September 2017 we made the hard decision to being the process of shutting down the club.  Our last class will be Dec 19th, 2017.
