Student Expectations

posted Jun 26, 2016, 4:56 PM by Joanne Johnson

Be serious in your efforts & attitude.  Respect your Instructor, and other students.

Be on time and ready for class.  Arriving late disrupts the class.

Wear a clean uniform or modest comfortable clothing and your belt.

Remove shoes, socks and all jewelry.

Long hair should be up out of the way. (Pony tail or braid)

Keep your fingernails and toenails trimmed and clean.

Bow when entering and leaving the gym.

Bow before and after working with a partner.

Black Belts will be addressed as Sensei.

Pay attention and listen to instruction.  Do not interrupt. If you have a question, raise your hand.

Loud talking, vulgarity, profanity, loss of temper and rudeness are never permitted.

Do not eat, drink, chew gum, or smoke in the gym.  Water bottles are allowed.

Do not teach karate to your friends.  Higher belts may be asked to help lower belts, but will not teach a technique or kata without asking permission of a Sensei.

No sparring unless under the supervision of one of the Senseis and with properly fitted protective gear.  (mouth guard, groin protection, hand pads, foot pads, etc.)
